Dr. Christian Leal was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. The first in his family to attend college, he earned a full scholarship to Stanford University, receiving the Lyons Award for Public Service. He graduated top of his class from UT Southwestern Medical School, where he helped lead a free clinic and earned teaching and humanism awards. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Dean McGee Eye Institute, ranking in the top 1% nationally, and a vitreoretinal fellowship at Emory University, where he was named Fellow of the Year. Dr. Leal specializes in surgical and medical retina, complex diabetic detachments, pediatric retinal diseases, and inflammatory eye disorders. A native Spanish speaker, he is dedicated to compassionate, evidence-based care and improving access to vision treatment. He enjoys nature, travel, reading nonfiction, and time with his wife, daughter, and two rescue dogs.
