Description
Dr. Saagar N. Patel was born in Austin and raised in Houston. He graduated from Clements High School and earned dual honors degrees in Plan II and Biochemistry from UT Austin, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He researched neuroregenerative natural products before attending Baylor College of Medicine. He completed his internship at UT Dell Medical School, residency at Penn State, and fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the University of Colorado. Dr. Patel specializes in medical and surgical retina, diabetic care, and vascular diseases. He values personalized care and is fluent in intermediate Spanish. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, basketball, snowboarding, and live music. He and his wife, Dr. Weiss, a dermatologist, are excited to return to Central Texas. Dr. Patel looks forward to joining Austin Retina and collaborating with a team dedicated to excellence and teaching the next generation of surgeons.
